Our clients perpetually do cool stuff. They use incredible equipment to move world-changing technology all around the world. We love that we get to play a part in the incredible work that they do.
No matter how big the job, we are always in the business of keeping shipping boring. We want every project to happen without incident and in the most efficient way possible.
But sometimes a job comes along that is bound to be exciting even if everything goes as planned. That was certainly the case when we got hired to do a Marine Warranty Survey for Pentagon Freight.
Our client was hired by TechnipFMC to transport a GIANT replacement crane from Norway to Poland. The floating crane used to move and install the replacement crane is the UGLEN, listed as one of the largest floating cranes in the world.
Excitement, but not too much
When working with equipment of this size, there are a lot of things that can go wrong—a miscalculation, a faulty part, a person stepping in the wrong place at the wrong time. And although it is amazing to watch a huge replacement crane be loaded onto a ship by an even bigger floating crane, there is a limit to how much excitement should be appropriate.
Needless to say, on a job like this there is no room for error. In order to make sure we could represent our client and their interests well, we made sure one of our top guys was deployed to be on site through the entire project.
Quality matters
Alex K is a surveyor with years of experience as a naval architect, port captain, and marine surveyor. When he is on the job, he brings a high level of expertise that can respond to any possible situation.
Despite the potential for things to go wrong during the project, our surveyor, working with the capable hands of the Pentagon and TechnipFMC crew, transported and replaced the crane without any issues.
The biggest jobs require the best people, and Nordic Maritime Solutions works hard to make sure every surveyor and inspector is an expert in their field.
