Nordic Maritime Solutions Surveys First Heavy Cargo Lift of GE Renewable Energy Offshore’s St. Nazaire Project
NMS surveyors oversaw the heavy lift for parts of the Haliade 150 6MW Turbines that will provide power for EDF, one of France’s largest energy companies.
NAZAIRE, FRANCE – On January 22, 2021, GE Renewable Offshore Wind, working in partnership with Enbridge and EDF, began transporting the first of many Haliade 150 6MW Turbines for the St. Nazaire offshore wind project. Each of these turbines are capable of powering up to 5000 homes and will be installed 10-12 kilometers offshore in the Bay of Biscay.
Nordic Maritime Solutions was called in to survey pre-load, loadout, lift, securing, and discharge of the massive turbine parts in order to ensure the lift was performed safely and that all Seafastening was capable of keeping the cargo, the vessel, and those working on the load and transport safe.
A Tender Outbound Transport Engineer said he looked forward to working with Nordic Maritime Solutions.
This was the first step in a much larger project to install 80 off shore wind turbines to help supplement the energy capabilities in the Loire Atlantique region of France. The offshore project is expected to be completed in 2022.
